Ad Manager: Create Custom Audiences Using Smart Lists for Enhanced Targeting
We are thrilled to announce a new feature that allows you to create customer list custom audiences directly from smart lists. This enhancement provides precise targeting for your ad campaigns by leveraging your existing customer data more efficiently.
How It Works
Creating Customer List Custom Audiences:
You can now create custom audiences from your smart lists in two different stages — via the Ad Manager Settings and during campaign creation.

From Ad Manager Settings > Audiences Tab:
- Navigate to the Audiences tab within Ad Manager Settings.
- Click the 'Create new audience' button and select 'Custom Audience.'
- Choose the Customer list option as the source for your custom audience.
- Opt for the Smart List option and select one or more existing smart lists from the dropdown menu.
- Name your audience for easy identification and click 'Create audience.'

During Campaign Creation:
- In the 'Intended Audience' section of the campaign creation flow, select 'Retargeting.'
- Click the option to create a custom audience.
- Choose the Customer list option as your custom audience source.
- Select the Smart List option and pick one or more smart lists from the dropdown.
- Enter your audience name and click 'Create audience.'
Important Notes
- Only smart lists pre-created in the contacts section of your account will be available for creating custom audiences.
- The contacts included in the selected smart lists at the time of audience creation will be those considered as part of the audience.
- Before creating a custom audience, you must accept the customer list custom audience Terms of Service from Meta. A notification will appear if you haven't accepted these terms.
For a seamless setup, ensure your smart lists are updated with the latest contact information for optimal audience targeting.
