We're excited to announce the introduction of dynamic pricing support on the Orders API. This new capability empowers businesses to customize product pricing by increasing or decreasing the original amount during checkout. This flexibility is invaluable for businesses with diverse pricing needs, such as salon services, where variable factors like stylist expertise can affect the total cost.
Customizable Pricing: Businesses can now adjust a product's price at checkout, similar to the flexibility offered with invoices. This adjustment ensures taxes, discounts, additional charges, and other calculations continue seamlessly on the revised price.
Practical Use Cases: For instance, if a customer books a hair appointment and opts for a senior stylist over a junior one, they could incur an additional charge (e.g., $30), bringing the service total to $130.
Broad Application: This feature, available across all products, will enhance the checkout experience for various use-cases where dynamic pricing is advantageous. Currently enabled for Calendars and POS, we can extend it to other areas as demand arises.
Compatibility: This exciting feature supports one-time products and setup fees for subscriptions. However, it does not extend to recurring subscription amounts. It is available with all payment providers.
Dynamic pricing will soon integrate with frontend Calendars, expanding its utility. Once the Services are live with Orders API implementation, businesses can fully leverage dynamic pricing for an even more streamlined checkout process.
