Introducing Private Channels and Channel Emojis for Community Groups

Exciting New Features for Community Groups!

We are thrilled to announce the introduction of two highly anticipated features designed to boost privacy and customization for your community groups: Private Channels and Channel Emojis. These features are available on both mobile and web versions, enhancing your group’s management and member engagement.

Private Channels

One of the most awaited features is finally here! You can now create private channels within community groups to keep certain content restricted to select members. Group admins and owners have the ability to create new private channels or convert existing public channels to private ones.

How to Use:

  1. Creating a New Private Channel:
    • Create a new channel and enable the private channel toggle.
    • Alternatively, convert an existing channel to private by opening the channel settings, navigating to the settings tab, and selecting the “change to private channel” option.

     

  2. Managing Members:
    • After converting the channel to private, revisit the channel settings, click on the “members” tab, and add members to the channel.
    • You can assign a member as a channel manager, granting them admin access specific to that channel.

     

Things to Note:

  • The group owner and channel creator will automatically be added as channel managers.
  • A channel manager functions as an admin for that specific channel; general group admin roles won’t apply within a private channel.
  • Group owners cannot leave a private channel.
  • Private channels will not be visible in the channel list for those who are not members.

Channel Emojis

Add a fun, personalized touch to your channels with the new Channel Emojis feature. Set a unique emoji as the channel icon to make it easily identifiable and engaging for your members.
