Introducing the New Billing Address Feature for Ecommerce Store Checkout
Enhancing your Ecommerce store experience is now easier than ever with our new Billing Address feature. This update is designed to provide greater flexibility and improve compliance by capturing billing information separately from the shipping addresses.
Key Features of the Billing Address Update
-
- Enable/Disable Billing Address:
- Store owners have the option to toggle “Enable Billing Address” within the checkout settings.
- When enabled, a “Same as Shipping Address” checkbox is automatically displayed under the Shipping Details section and is checked by default for user convenience.
- Revised Checkout Page Structure:
- Updated sections include:
- Contact Details
- Shipping Details
- Billing Details (new addition)
- Notes
- Shipping Options
- Payment Methods
- Customizable Text Options:
- Personalize the checkout experience with text customization for:
- Billing Address Headline
- Billing Address Checkbox
- Billing Address Fields including Full Name, Phone Number, Full Address, Country, State, City, and Zip Code
How to Implement the New Feature
- Open the Store Builder and navigate to the Checkout Page.
- Select the Checkout element and proceed to the Advanced Section under Settings.
- Under Form Options, toggle on “Enable Billing Address.”
- Use Text Options under General Settings to tailor the headline and checkbox text.
- Save and publish your changes to start capturing billing details during checkout.
Additional Enhancements
- Order Details Page: Once enabled, billing address information will appear separately beneath the Shipping Address in the Customer Information section.
- Customer Access Center (CAS): Billing addresses will be presented within the Order Details section.
- Contacts: Billing addresses will be stored alongside shipping addresses for each ecommerce store user.
- Packing Slips and Thank You Pages: Both packing slips and thank you pages will feature billing details along with shipping information.
- Order Confirmation Email: Order confirmation emails will contain the billing address for recipient clarity.
Important Notes
- The billing address option is enabled by default for newly created store locations, with custom fields generated automatically.
- For existing locations, this feature is disabled by default but can be enabled to create necessary custom fields. These fields are non-deletable and assigned unique keys. If a key matches an existing field, the original key will be reused.
- Billing address fields completed during checkout will flow through to any related sections.
- Currently, the billing address section does not link to tax calculations.
