Enhance Your Account Security with Authenticator App Support for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

In our continuous effort to optimize the security of your SMBcrm account, we’re excited to announce the addition of Authenticator App support for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). This new feature provides a robust alternative to the traditional SMS and Email verification methods, ensuring an extra layer of security for your account.

What’s New

Authenticator App Integration
You can now integrate popular apps like Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, and similar tools to generate time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) for your account’s 2FA. This provides an additional safeguard against unauthorized access.

Easy Setup
Setting up this feature is straightforward. Simply scan a QR code from your preferred authenticator app to initiate a secure connection with your account.

Backup & Recovery
During the setup process, you’ll receive backup codes. These codes are crucial for account recovery, allowing you to regain access if your authenticator app is unavailable.

How to Enable Authenticator App for 2FA

  1. Navigate to My Profile
    Access your account settings by going to Settings >> My Profile.

  2. Initiate 2FA Setup
    Select the option to set up Two-factor Authentication (2FA) App.
  3. Scan or Enter Code
    Use your chosen authenticator app to scan the provided QR code or manually enter the displayed code.

  4. Verify with OTP
    Enter the one-time password generated by your authenticator app to complete the setup.
  5. Secure Backup Codes
    Save the backup codes presented during setup in a safe place. These codes ensure you maintain access if you lose app access. Remember, backup codes can be reset if they’re lost or compromised.

  6. Future Logins
    When logging in next, you can choose to use the authenticator app for 2FA.

Important Notes

  • Only the primary user can set up an authenticator app. Admins will not have the ability to do this for other users via “login as.”
  • 10 backup codes are generated at one time, with each code valid for a single use.
