We're excited to announce a significant enhancement to the client portal experience with the introduction of Temporary Magic Links. This update is focused on strengthening security measures to mitigate risks associated with unauthorized access and link misuse.
15-Minute Magic Link Expiration: Magic links now come with a 15-minute expiration period to significantly reduce the vulnerability window for potential misuse.
Database Deletion Limit: Links will have a 90-day limit before database deletion, ensuring that outdated access methods are promptly discarded.
Rate Limits: To prevent potential abuse, user-generated magic links are rate limited to 5-6 requests.
User Accessibility: Users can request a magic link for themselves within 90 days since they last logged in, ensuring continued access without compromising security.
Encrypted Secret Token: The secret token is now encrypted, securing users’ login information and enhancing overall portal security.
Backward Compatibility: Don't worry about disruption; old magic links will remain functional until a new one is requested.
Enhanced Security: By minimizing the window of time an unauthorized user can access the portal, security incidents related to misuse are significantly reduced.
Link Theft and Replay Attacks: The introduction of temporary links helps prevent the likelihood of link theft and replay attacks.
User Trust: Demonstrating a consistent commitment to data protection increases user trust.
