New Product Update – Separate Owners Feature for Contacts & Opportunities

As part of our commitment to granting our users maximum control over their customer relationship management (CRM) systems, we’re pleased to announce a new feature that now allows you to set different owners for contacts and their associated opportunities. Unveiling a higher level of organization and delegation complexity, this feature is aimed at precisely reflecting your company’s structure and task distribution.

Feature Activation Is Just a Few Clicks Away

Getting started with this feature is straightforward. Below are the necessary steps:

  1. Visit the “Opportunities & Pipeline” section under your account settings.
  2. Locate the option labeled “Allow different owners for contacts and its opportunities.”
  3. Simply turn this setting on.

Exploring the New Functionality

Once you’ve enabled this feature, you’ll notice several changes that enhance your CRM’s flexibility and automation:

  • Default Opportunity Owner: When you create a new opportunity, the owner of the associated contact becomes the default opportunity owner by default. However, feel free to change this as per your discretion.
  • Subsettings With Automation: We’ve underlaid two auto-update features that can streamline your CRM’s follower management.
    • Turning on the “Allow updating the contact follower based on the opportunity owner change” feature leads to automatic adjustment of the contact follower once there’s a change in opportunity ownership.
    • Conversely, enabling the “Allow updating the opportunity follower based on the contact owner change” feature triggers automatic opportunity follower updates if the contact owner is changed.

These auto-updates cover changes made via Bulk Actions and the Automations feature.

Kindly Note

After you’ve enabled this bifurcation, existing automations that were set to update owners may not update the opportunity owner as expected. Therefore, we advise checking all automations where owners are updated once the setting is turned on. We’ll soon release an opportunity action to enable adding and removing owners for further refinement of your CRM operations.
