Client Portal File Share Notifications
SMBcrm can notify contacts when an account admin shares a file with them through the Client Portal. These notifications help clients see newly shared documents without needing to manually check for updates.
File share notifications are available in the Client Portal on web and the SMBcrm Mobile app. Contacts can also manage these notifications from their Client Portal preferences.
What changed
When an admin shares a file with a contact through the Client Portal, the contact receives an automatic notification that a new file has been shared.
Contacts can choose whether to receive:
- In-app notifications
- Push notifications, when enabled

How admins share a file
To share a file with a contact:
- Open the contact record.
- Go to the Files section from the right-side navigation panel.
- Upload or select a file.
- Enable the Upload to Client Portal option.
- Save the file.
Once the file is shared, the contact receives an in-app notification and, if enabled, a push notification.
How contacts manage preferences
Contacts can update their notification settings from the Client Portal:
- Log in to the Client Portal.
- Go to Settings, then Notification Preferences.
- Enable or disable in-app and push notifications.
- Save the preferences.

Why it matters
Businesses often share contracts, invoices, onboarding documents, and other important files through the Client Portal. File share notifications help reduce missed updates and make it easier for clients to know when documents are available.
