Facebook Lead Ads Contact Merge Controls
SMBcrm has expanded Facebook contact merge settings so users can control name-based matching separately for Messenger conversations and Facebook Lead Ads submissions.
This helps teams managing lead capture and CRM records reduce duplicate contacts when incoming Facebook leads do not always include consistent phone numbers or email addresses.
What changed
The previous Merge Facebook contacts by name setting only applied to Facebook Messenger conversations.
That behavior has been split into two settings under Account View > Settings > Business Profile > General:
- Merge Facebook contacts by matching contact names from Messenger conversations
- Merge Facebook contacts by matching contact names from Facebook Lead Form submissions

Why it matters
With name-based matching available for Facebook Lead Form submissions, users have more control over how Facebook contacts are deduplicated.
This can help:
- Reduce duplicate contacts
- Keep CRM records cleaner
- Improve lead continuity across Facebook sources
- Make Facebook contact management more reliable
The separate settings also make it clearer which Facebook source each merge rule applies to.
