Automatic Alt Text for Store Images and Elements
SMBcrm now generates alt text automatically for supported ecommerce images and store elements. This helps improve SEO and accessibility by using existing metadata from products, collections, stores, variants, payment methods, and element context.
What Changed
Alt text is now generated for several store image types without requiring manual setup.
Product Images
- Main product images use the product name.
- Product gallery images include the product name and image index.
- Variant images include the product name and variant name.
- Upsell and bundle images use the product name.
Collection and Store Branding
- Collection cover images use the collection name.
- Header logos use the store name when alt text is not already present.
Store Elements
Supported store elements now use product-based alt text where applicable, including:
- Product cards
- Featured Product
- Related Products
- Cart item images
- Checkout product thumbnails
Components inside store elements can also use the component name when applicable. Fallback translation support is included when existing metadata is used to generate alt text.
How It Works
No action is required. Alt text is generated automatically for supported ecommerce images and store elements using existing store and product metadata.
Notes
- This version does not add a new UI or manual alt text input.
- Storefront design remains unchanged.
- The existing customer workflow remains unchanged.
