Company automation by email domain is now available to all SMBcrm accounts, without a Labs toggle. When a contact is created or their email changes, the automation matches their email domain to a company and links the contact. If no match exists, it can create a company with its domain, name, and logo.
For B2B teams, this reduces manual company matching and keeps business relationships organized for customer communication.
What Changed
- Domain-based matching: Contacts are associated with the company that holds their email domain. Existing companies without a domain are matched and reused first.
- Duplicate prevention: The Company Domain Name field supports one domain per company and is unique by default.
- Automatic enrichment: When no company matches, the automation can create one with its domain, name, and logo.
- Domain exclusions: Free email providers such as Gmail and Yahoo are skipped. Admins can also exclude specific domains.
- Existing data support: You can fill in domains for existing companies and apply the automation to existing contacts.
Company creation from contact email domains is enabled by default for new agencies. For existing agencies, it remains off until an admin enables it.
How to Configure It
- Go to Settings > Objects > Companies.
- Under Automations, enable Create companies from contact’s email domain, Enrich companies automatically, and Automatically prevent duplicate companies as needed.
- Add any domains to ignore under Exclude domains from automatic association.
- Choose whether to fill in domains for existing companies and apply the automation to existing contacts.
- Click Save changes.
Important Matching Rules
Fill in existing company domains before applying the automation to existing contacts. This helps contacts attach to companies you already have, preserving their deals and notes rather than creating separate records.
Existing contact-to-company associations are not changed, and manually entered company domains are not overwritten. Domain matching is exact: company.com and mail.company.com are treated as different domains.
Keep duplicate prevention enabled to help prevent duplicates across company creation methods.
