Instagram Direct Connection Available in Labs
SMBcrm now supports direct Instagram account connections in Labs. This lets businesses connect Instagram accounts without requiring a connected Facebook Page, while still supporting existing Facebook Page-based Instagram connections.
What changed
A dedicated Instagram integration card is available under Settings > Integrations after the Labs feature is enabled.
From the Instagram integration area, teams can view connected Instagram accounts in one place and manage account-level messaging and automation controls.
Supported connection types include:
- Direct Instagram connections
- Facebook Page-based Instagram connections
Supported capabilities
With Instagram connected, teams can:
- Sync Instagram Direct conversations into the CRM
- Create and manage contacts from Instagram conversations
- Trigger workflows and automations from Instagram interactions
- Manage Instagram conversations alongside other messaging channels
How to access it
This capability is available under Labs > Instagram Direct Integration.
After enabling the Labs feature, go to Settings > Integrations > Instagram to manage Instagram connections.
Important notes
- Facebook Page-based Instagram connections will continue to function as expected.
- Enabling a direct Instagram connection will automatically disable the toggle for Page-based Instagram connections.
- Instagram accounts connected through a Facebook Page cannot be disconnected independently. The associated Facebook Page must be disconnected first.
- Existing workflows and automations will continue to work if the same Instagram account is switched between connection methods.
- Disabling the Messaging & Automations toggle will stop both Instagram messaging and automation functionality for that account.
- Direct Instagram connection support will be required for certain upcoming Instagram-native capabilities mentioned in the release, including DM to followers and poll replies.
- An account connected through the integration will also connect in Social Planner, and vice versa, because both use the same Meta app.
Why it matters
Direct Instagram connection gives teams more flexibility in how Instagram accounts are connected and managed. It also improves visibility into connected Instagram accounts and creates a simpler setup path for teams that do not want to rely on a Facebook Page connection.
