Record Picklists Now Accept Dynamic Values
Dropdown fields in Create Record and Update Record actions can again use dynamic values in SMBcrm automation.
This fixes an issue where saved dynamic values, such as {{contact.day_1}}, could appear empty when a dropdown field was opened. Users also could not enter a new merge tag in the affected field.
What Changed
Single-select dropdown fields now include a Standard and Dynamic toggle.
- Standard mode shows the searchable picklist, including image options when available.
- Dynamic mode shows a text input with the custom value picker, so you can insert a merge tag from a trigger, formatter, or inbound webhook.
- Saved values that do not match a picklist option now open in Dynamic mode automatically, helping existing configurations display as originally set.
- Switching between Standard and Dynamic mode clears the current field value to prevent an unintended leftover value from being saved.
Additional Notes
This update applies to Create Record, Update Record, and both associated record actions in contact-based and custom object workflows.
Multi-select fields were not affected, so their behavior has not changed. The Update Contact Field action already had this toggle and is unchanged.
If you switch modes, re-enter the value after changing the mode because the current value is intentionally cleared.
