Repeat Workflow Actions With the New Loop Action

The Loop action repeats workflow steps for each list item or number in a range, with sequential or parallel execution and results for every iteration.

The Loop action in SMBcrm workflows lets you build a set of actions once and repeat it for every item in a list or every number in a range, without code.

What the Loop Action Supports

  • Lists from earlier steps: Select a list using the tag icon, such as an array received through an Inbound Webhook.
  • Current-item fields: Inside the loop, use Custom values > Loop Item to map the current item’s fields into your actions.
  • Number ranges: Enter a Start Number and End Number. The panel shows how many times the actions will run.
  • Execution modes: Sequential is the default and runs one iteration after another. Enable Parallel to run several iterations at the same time.
  • Iteration results: The Loop step’s Test tab shows each iteration, the actions inside it, and their statuses.

How to Add a Loop

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows and open a workflow.
  2. Click the + icon where the loop should start and select Loop.
  3. Under Loop Over, choose A list of items or A range of numbers.
  4. For a list, use the tag icon in Items to select a list from an earlier step. For a range, enter the start and end numbers.
  5. Leave execution mode set to Sequential or enable Parallel.
  6. Click Save action.
  7. Click the + icon inside the dashed loop box to add the actions you want to repeat. Map current-item fields through Custom values > Loop Item.
  8. Save and publish your workflow.

Example: One Service Request, Multiple Opportunities

An Inbound Webhook can receive a service request containing three services: roof repair, gutter cleaning, and exterior painting.

Select that services list in the Loop action, then add actions inside the loop to:

  • Create or update an opportunity using the service’s name and estimated value.
  • Add a task using the service’s preferred date.
  • Add a note using the service’s urgency.

In this example, the loop runs three times and creates three opportunities, three tasks, and three notes. The Test tab lets you review the results of each iteration.

Important Behavior

Only actions inside the dashed loop box repeat. Actions below the box run once after the loop finishes.

A number-range loop has no list items, so item fields are empty. Use the loop counter under Loop Item to access the current number.
