Save QR Codes to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet
SMBcrm users can now save QR codes directly to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. This works for both existing and newly created QR codes, making it easier to present the right code during in-person customer interactions without searching through saved images.
What Changed
- Save a QR code to the digital wallet supported by your device.
- Open the wallet pass when needed and present the QR code for scanning.
- Wallet passes include helpful context, such as QR code type, associated account, destination or context, and other relevant details.
- Pass designs are tailored for Apple Wallet and Google Wallet based on each platform’s supported configurations.
- Wallet pass headers currently display agency branding.
Why It Matters
Before this update, users often saved QR codes as images in their phone gallery. As the number of saved QR codes grew, it became harder to identify which code matched a specific purpose, destination, profile, website, funnel, or other QR code type.
Digital wallet support keeps business QR codes easier to find and use. Users can open their wallet, choose the appropriate QR code pass, and let the customer scan it.
How It Works
- Open the QR Code Builder.
- Create a QR code or edit an existing one.
- Continue to the final step of the builder.
- Select the option to add the QR code to your digital wallet.
- Scan the new QR code with your phone.
- Based on your device and operating system, the pass will be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
- Open your wallet whenever you need to present the QR code for scanning.
Apple Wallet and Google Wallet Differences
The wallet pass may look different depending on whether it is added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Each platform supports different pass customization options. For example, Apple Wallet supports displaying a profile image on the pass, while Google Wallet currently does not support that configuration.
The experience is designed around the capabilities available in each wallet while keeping the most important QR code information easy to access.
Notes
- The feature supports both existing and newly created QR codes.
- Wallet passes include contextual details to make QR codes easier to identify.
- Pass designs can vary between Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.
- Agency branding is currently displayed in the wallet pass header and is planned to become optional in a future iteration.
