Grant Course Access Per Member and Create Private Courses
SMBcrm introduces two interconnected capabilities for community administrators managing educational content: member-specific course access and a new private course type. Together, these give you precise control over who sees what content and when.
Member-Specific Course Access
You can now manually grant or revoke access to individual courses for specific members directly from the Members area. This is useful when you want to deliver content on a case-by-case basis without relying on automated unlock criteria.
How to Grant Access
- Navigate to Community > Members
- Select the member and choose Manage Courses
- Click Grant Courses and select the courses you want to unlock
- The member receives an email notification when access is granted
Important: Access cannot be revoked if a member already meets existing unlock criteria for that course. This ensures that earned access is preserved.
Private Course Type
A new visibility setting lets you create courses that are only accessible when an admin grants access. Private courses cannot unlock automatically, making them ideal for:
- VIP communities where exclusive content is part of the value proposition
- Internal training where access should be tightly controlled
- Premium learning programs where content delivery is tied to enrollment or purchase
How to Create a Private Course
- Add a course through the Learning tab
- Set Course Visibility to Private
- Members will see the course listed as locked until you manually grant them access
Strategic Benefits
These features enable community managers to deliver exclusive learning as a member reward, provide instant onboarding access for new members, and safeguard sensitive training materials from general visibility.
