Drag and Drop Triggers and Actions in the Workflow Builder
SMBcrm’s workflow builder now supports drag-and-drop for triggers and actions. Instead of clicking through menus to add each step, you can drag items directly from the sidebar onto the workflow canvas, making it faster to construct multi-step automations.
How It Works
- Open a workflow and access the Triggers or Actions sidebar
- Click and hold the trigger or action you want to add
- Drag it onto the canvas
- Hover over valid placement areas, which are marked with + symbols or appear between existing nodes
- A highlighted placeholder shows exactly where the step will be inserted
- Drop the step, configure it, and save
The visual feedback makes it clear where each step will land before you release it, so you can build with confidence.
Why This Matters
If you build automations regularly, especially complex multi-step sequences, the previous approach of clicking “Add Step” repeatedly added up. Drag and drop reduces that friction and lets you focus on the logic of your workflow rather than the mechanics of the builder interface.
This is particularly helpful when:
- Building workflows with many sequential steps
- Rearranging or inserting steps between existing nodes
- Quickly prototyping automation ideas before configuring each step in detail
Important Note
Any unsaved dragged items will not persist if you exit without saving. Make sure to save your workflow after adding and configuring new steps.
