Updated Toll-Free Verification for Political Messaging
SMBcrm has updated the toll-free verification flow to align with revised carrier requirements, with added requirements for political election campaign use cases.
This update includes:
- A redesigned multi-step verification flow
- Additional required business details
- Expanded messaging use case information
- Campaign Verify token support for political messaging
These changes affect how SMS and communication features are verified for compliance. If you use workflow automations that send SMS messages, make sure your toll-free verification is up to date.
What Changed in the Verification Flow
The updated flow now collects more complete information across three steps.
Step 1: Business and Contact Information
Users are now asked to provide:
- Legal entity name
- DBA name
- Legal entity type
- Business registration authority, number, and country when applicable
- Website URL
- First and last name
- Country code and phone number

Step 2: Business Address
The address step includes:
- Country code
- State
- Address line 1
- City
- Postal or ZIP code

Step 3: Messaging Use Case
The use case step now requires more detail to support messaging transparency, including:
- Estimated monthly volume
- Opt-in type
- Use case categories
- Public image URLs showing opt-in workflow proof
- Detailed use case description
- Sample message content
Users must also certify agreement to the Terms of Service before submission.

Political Campaign Requirements
Carriers have introduced stricter compliance standards for political election campaigns using toll-free numbers.
Effective February 17, 2026:
- All new and existing toll-free verifications for Political Election Campaigns must include a valid Campaign Verify Auth Token
- Without a valid token, political use cases may be rejected or restricted
When the use case category is set to Political Election Campaigns, these additional fields appear:
- Campaign Vetting Token (CV Auth Token)
- Vetting Provider (Campaign Verify)
The CV Auth Token must follow this format:
cv||mno|tfree||

How to Get a Campaign Verify Token
Political organizations must complete verification directly with Campaign Verify before submitting toll-free verification.
The process includes:
- Registering the political organization
- Completing identity and eligibility verification
- Undergoing required compliance checks
- Receiving a CV Auth Token upon approval
- Entering that token in the toll-free verification form
Important Compliance Notes
- Applies to both new and existing toll-free numbers
- Required for federal, state, and local political campaigns
- Carriers may reject traffic without proper Campaign Verify authentication
- Increased messaging throughput and compliance approval depend on valid verification
Who Is Affected
This update is relevant for:
- Accounts sending political messaging over toll-free numbers
- Existing toll-free numbers already approved for political use cases
Why It Matters
These changes help reduce rejection risk, improve transparency in the verification process, and support compliance for political messaging.
